Emily's Nursery

I have had a few requests to post Emily's finished nursery!
I thought I had done this but apparently time flew and I never got to it before having her.
So, 3 months later here is her nursery! HA

A friend of mine painted all of the canvases for me. She does excellent work and I love how they turned out!

I special ordered all the fabric from a little fabric store and had everything custom made!
I am SO happy with how it all turned out. It's such a peaceful little room and will grow with her for many years to come! It's not too babyish and not too big girly. I really didn't want a "themed" room. So I just incorporated little birds here and there. We are using the top of her dresser as the changing table. Her room is too small to have a separate changing table.

Her bed converts to a toddler and then a full size. Love that it grows with her.
All of her furniture came from Pickles & Ice Cream in LR.

She doesn't sleep in her crib yet. She is still in our room. She does nap in her crib though!

Her chest of drawers is behind her door. Love the dark wood!

I absolutely love how her window treatment turned out! It is a cornice board that stands out and slopes like an awning. Her curtains pull closed and have black out material for complete darkness when she sleeps.

Mike calls them "hotel curtains" because they have that pulley system on the side. HA

She has 2 small closets in her room.. and NO they both aren't full of clothes.... only 1 is! HA

Love this verse!
Sweet little birds!

It was SO fun decorating her nursery! I hope she likes flowers and birds when she get bigger! HA

12 Weeks Old

Look at you grow!! You have changed so much over the past 12 weeks Emily.
You are a sweet little bundle of joy and light up our world!

You are such a content and happy baby.... absolutely PERFECT in our eyes!
Here's your 12 week pose! HA

Sweet chubby cheeks that are irresistible!

Baby blues! You have eyes like your Poppy.
Your Daddy really hopes you keep these blue eyes... I am very curious to see what they end up being. I have hazel eyes and your Daddy has big brown eyes.

The back of your head is becoming a little bare. Your headbands cover this up a little. You usually don't wear a headband and bow at home so you are constantly turning your head side to side and rubbing it bald! I hope it grows back quickly!

Sitting up in your Bumbo seat! Your neck is SO strong! We practice daily sitting up in it and you seem to like it because you can look around and see everything, which you LOVE!

At 12 weeks you:
* make gurgling sounds when you coo
*suck your fist ( your prefer the right one)
* love to be naked
* kick your legs when you get excited
* sleep 10hrs each night!!!! YES!
*rub your eyes when you are sleepy
*try to sit up when we hold you or while laying in your Bobby Lounger
*drink 4-6oz every 2-3 hrs
* love wollering your tongue around
* droll quite a bit

So hard to believe you are almost 3 months old!

Spring Planning

There is SO much I want to do this Spring with our little family! I want to make lots of memories, start traditions and document every minute!
One being... Pictures in the daffodils!! This is SO neat and I REALLY want to have Emily's pictures taken in them!
This tiny little church tucked away on Wye Mountain plants daffodils each year in a HUGE field. Admission is free and parking is free. Many local photographers have sessions up there. It makes for GREAT pictures and I'm dyeing to get up there when they bloom!
I can already see little Emily's face popping up through them!
I plan on taking her bumbo seat since she won't be sitting up just yet. Hoping to use the pictures we take for a cute Easter card!

Not sure who this cute little girl is but I wanted to show you how pretty it is!

They actually have a Wye Mountain Daffodil Festival 2 weekends during March!
I think it will be worth the drive. It's just figuring out the best time to go with Mother Nature!

2 Months Old!

Emily turned 2 months old Saturday!!
Time flies FAST when you have a little one.
We spent the day shopping with a friend of mine and her little boy Elam.
We are constantly saying that Elam and Emily will one day marry each other.... we have arranged it and all! HA
Wouldn't they make the cutest little couple? And their names sound so cute together!
He is 7 months old.

At 2 month you:
* are smiling more and more!
* are such a good sleeper!! So thankful for that!
* are staring and studying our faces when we hold you.
*love for us to talk to you
* love to be rocked! I hope that never stops!
* wear some 0-3 month clothes but mostly 3 months now

Tomorrow Emily goes for her 2 month check & shots.
We are hoping she tolerates them ok and that the side effects are minimal!
I will post pictures and her stats sometime tomorrow.

Quilted with Love!

Emily got a package in the mail yesterday. Her Great-Aunt Laura made her a BEAUTIFUL quilt and we LOVE it! I really like how sweet and girly it is... love the flowers on it!

Right when I layed her down on it she smiled BIG and bright!
I think she likes it!

I hope that she treasures this quilt forever. It means so much when someone takes the time to make something like this.
Hopefully she will pass it down someday if she has a little girl!
So precious! Thanks Aunt Laura you did a GREAT job!

Is it a Deal or a Dud?

We have gotten a few new things that I have been meaning to blog about. I love trying out different products so below you will find some product reviews! HA.... Maybe I should be the lady that does "Deal or Dud" on Channel 7 news!
If you haven't ever seen the "Deal or Dud" segment on Channel 7 news, let me fill you in. They buy random products, some are the "As Seen on T.V" products and they try them out and tell you if they are really worth buying! Wouldn't that be fun? HA!

Being the non-coffee drinker I am, I wasn't too excited when this lovely Keurig Mini Brewer walked into the house.... but after Mike made a cup of hot apple cider with it for me, I was THRILLED! I love apple cider, especially during these frigid temperature we are having!

It really is a neat little machine and Mike says it makes tasty coffee. I'll take his word for it!
So if you are a coffee drinker/apple cider/hot cocoa drinker I recommend this.
It's kinda pricey. Around $100 and up.
Deal!

My parents gave me this for Christmas. It's the Shark Steam Mop. I was pretty excited when I opened it! If you know me at all, you know that I LOVE to clean! Weird I know! I am beginning to love this thing. It has taken me awhile to warm up to it! HA... At first I wasn't sure how I would like it because it doesn't use any cleaning chemicals and for me that's just hard to believe it actually is cleaning without anything but water.
It uses super-heated steam to loosen dirt while sanitizing floors. It has a washable micro-fiber pad that helps lift and lock dirt in. And it only uses tap water!

I wet mopped the kitchen and then used the Shark and this is what I got! I would say it's a DEAL!

We have been using Avent bottles with Emily. When she drinks from them the nipples make a squeaking noise.... I was a little concerned she was getting too much air. She hasn't had tummy trouble but noise is a little annoying. I tried moving her up a nipple size and it still squeaks, so we decided to try a different bottle out. While at Babies R' Us we found the Tommee Tippee.

They are designed to be the closest thing to natural breast feeding. The super-wide nipple flexes and stretches like the breast and the sensitive anti-colic valve allows babies to feed comfortably with less air and vacuum build up.

There is very LITTLE squeaking if any from them and Emily seems to like them!
DEAL!
Another cool thing about the Tommee Tippee bottles is the on the go formula dispenser!
You pour your formula in it, cap it off, sit down in the bottle that already has water in it, screw the nipple on , cap the bottle and go! When you are ready to feed, just lift it out, pour it in the water and you're ready to go! Yes there is a few extra parts you have to deal/keep up with but it's a super nifty concept I thought!
I'm kinda excited to use the other Tommee Tippee products later on.

Maybe next time I'll have a dud to share with you! HA...

8 Weeks

Well here she is... Little Miss 8 week old!
Check out that pose... just snoozing away.

Baby's got her bell bottoms on! HA
I love this Baby Lulu romper.. it's still a little big in the belly for her but she will fill it out soon enough. Look closely and the sleeves even have flair to them! HA
Could baby stuff get any CUTER?!?!

At 8 weeks old you:

* weigh 9lb 11oz (as of 1/28/2011)
* are such a GOOD sleeper!! Thank you Lord!
* rolled over for the first time on 1/29/2011
* love to be held so that you can look around
* coo & smile when we talk to you
* enjoy laying under your play gym
* throw a fit when it's time to burp
* are drinking 4oz now!

In just 3 short days you will be 2 months old and will be getting your 2 month shots!
We are NOT looking forward to that appointment. I'm sure Mommy will cry right along with you that day. I am hoping they won't be too hard on you and that you tolerate them okay.

Each and every day is a new experience and we wouldn't trade it for the world!
